A Tanka Or Two Poem by Dónall Dempsey

A Tanka Or Two

mown down today but
daises...dandelions return
a few days later
dash across the grass playing
pay no attention to sign

catch a pair of tights
yes...fishnet to be precise
maybe a mermaid
lost them or an amorous...
I didn't catch anything else

boys condense the sun
magnify it just for fun
paper becomes flames
now spider trapped inside box
scrabbles to evade its rays
