My heart is beating alone
And there is nothing I can do
It used to beat beautifully
Because it was beating for you
Now it beats miserably
To an empty soul
With no dreams
No fantasies
Not even any goals
You were the blood in my veins
You were the air I breathe
Now you’re no longer here
Like no fish in the sea
I loved you so much
And I still love you now
If only I knew this would happen
I would have stopped it somehow
No one said
That love would be easy
And that love was painless
But when your heart gets broken
It leaves you in misery
I can’t blame you
For the decision that you made
Because I know, if you had no ties
You would have stayed
Right here in my heart
Right where you belong
We would have been perfect together
Like lyrics to a love song
Although it didn’t happen
And we are now what we shouldn’t be
There is nothing I can say
To make you come back to me
So now as I finish this poem
With a tear in my eye
I feel you should have stayed with me
Instead of saying good-bye.
