A Terrible Tragedy A Terrible Thing Poem by Andrew Matthews

A Terrible Tragedy A Terrible Thing

Hundreds of thousands of people killed
It just shows you
that we take mother Earth for granted.
Mother Earth, the very thing that gave birth to us and sustains us
can and will turn against us.

It might not be a runaway greenhouse effect
which will end our time on this planet
it could come from anywhere, anytime.
The tragedy in Asia is the wake up call we all needed
I only hope we listen and take heed.

When are the leaders of this planet going to learn
that everything and anything is possible.
We have been lulled into a sense of false security
As far as natural disasters are concerned it was just too safe
for a long time.

It was an Earthquake under the Indian Ocean
which caused the Tsunami to occur.
It's effect was devastating in Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Indonesia.
It must have been terrifying to have witnessed it.
a 30ft wave destroying all in it's path, my God..my God.
