How I wish that I...,
but it cannot be;
all I have left
is the memory.

I can appreciate this poem - its sentiment is my sentiment and i know why it is so brief. I'm 67 1/2 but Poemhunter lists my age as 68 - its robot typist has robbed me of six months as if those six months aren't precious to someone whose life has to be measured by the time that is in the past, not in the future. In other words, it is in memories i find TIME When we were young, did not the world stretch out before us in a limitless expanse of time? And now the world is behind us, in a very finite calculation of time. Your poem inspires this melancholy in me, but it is also the simple truth.
