A Thousand Tasks Poem by Casey Stewart

A Thousand Tasks

Before a tree can take root in the soil,
A thousand drops of rain it must take in,
A thousand seconds of sunlight must soak it as a seed,
Before a boy can become a man, a thousand tasks must be completed
He must change his appearance, for a fresh start
He must spend money, on maintenance, on necessities,
He must look, for a place to call home,
He must look within himself, for the strength to change, for the better
He must learn restraint,
He must love his lover, for the sake of his heart, for hers
A thousand tasks must be completed,
Before a boy can become a man
