A Thousand Times Poem by Khembottra Oum

A Thousand Times

I fell in love a thousand times,
Never once did I feel truly alive.
I cried with the night sky,
Along moon drops of heaven's light.
I broke the walls of hope,
My ghost still wanders as so.
I gave my heart so easily,
Knowing that it will always haunt me.
I watched the leaves break and fall,
Minutes pass and hours call.
I look and see my fellow man,
Distorted and ravaged by the land.
I wished that we were all blind,
Then man once again could be kind.
I drew from life and love,
That heaven is not a place up above.
I breathed the flowers of Eden,
Earth has her way that is never misleading.
I don't want to be a God,
Cause they will never know the beauty of love.
