A Timeless Voice, Silenced Poem by Practicing Poetess

A Timeless Voice, Silenced

Rating: 5.0

Her nose is too thick, and
Her lips are too thin
But a cute little dimple
On her chin
Makes her stand out, along with
Her bright eyes, so blue
Those eyes are blue as
The blue Danube.

She has golden blonde hair
That frames her face
She doesn't smile much,
But she moves with grace
And she comes to life
When she plays her guitar
It's then that you notice
That she's a true star.

With the voice of an angel
She sings jazz and blues
The world was not ready
Our angel to lose
At thirty-three, cancer
Did whisk her away
The world lost a legend
On that fateful day.

Thank you so much, Louis, for your unwavering support and appreciation. For anyone who has never heard Eva Cassidy sing before, I highly recommend giving her a listen. She has an amazing and brilliant sound. She took Judy Garland's classic 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow', making it her own, and many say doing a better job of it than Judy did. And THAT takes some doing! :)
