A Token Poem by 'Gboyega Towobola

A Token

I used my mouth to shout and sing,
But I lost my voice,
I gathered tongues of friends for backup,
Their tongue fainted,
I shook my body and danced,
But I got tired,
I hired a band to jeer me up,
But string instruments had their strings broken,
Drums tore and drummers’ hand ached,
And acoustic instrument players lost their breathe,
We tried for hours,
But all we said was THANK YOU.
Lord we can’t thank you enough,
Even if it is for eternity,
You are just too gracious.

…keep on the good work
