A Torn Soul Poem by McKenzie Spaulding

A Torn Soul

Alone...
Shivering and shaking
Icy
Little wisps of breathy air
Tickle the naked skin of her arms.
Gaunt face, peaked and ill.
Pain crippling each movement
Anguish
A piece of her soul was shredded away from her body.
Torn away by some undeserving force
Never to be whole again.
Shriveling, weak
The sporadic thump in her chest slowed its pace.
The finish line was slowly approaching.
The tourmented wait was untolerable
A barely audible breath eased over her lips.
The final pump of her heart reverberated in the silent vaults of her still body.
Releasing her into a painless eternity.
