A Tragedy Within A Smile Poem by justice bernard brown

A Tragedy Within A Smile

Rating: 4.5

A smile,
So full of life and energy,
Bringing forth light and warmth,
Yet, not this one,
Beyond the mask was tears,
Fears and burdens this weighed a ton,
She was rejected,
Forgotten...
Lost in a barren, dark place,
Yet,
She smiled,
A smile that'll only be a memory,
That rips and burns her entirely,
Why am I the only one,
The only one that sees this,
A tragedy within a smile

I wanted to cry,
In fact i should've cried,
To bring out tears,
Enough to wash away her pain,
Yet I smiled,
A smile that only we would understand,
It slowly began to rain,
As if the sky was going to fil the void,
That we both shared,
As the rain stopped,
And the light shredded through the clouds,
Her anguish was washed,
As did the tragedy within her smile,
