A Train Incident-Today's World Poem by Aaryan Irani

A Train Incident-Today's World

A crowd was I in,
At night;
far away from me;
was a group of adolescents
In their own sweet world;
unaware; of the world around them
the train gives its final ring
and just then a thief steals the girl's purse
they tried to catch him,
to their dismay, he disappeared
in the train; never to be seen again
I watched, as everyone did
like others, who didn't give a hand
I watched, as they ran;
just like me; no other to take a stand
Is this what we are today?
No one to help others?
maybe its just human psych
that unless it happens to themselves;
only then shall they fight?
The teens too, think they've seen the world
at their own sweet will, they babble
teens of today; just want to have fun
is this what the world to has come?
you may call me a defeatist;
true; this fact is
around us; no one alert
no one ready for what is to come
teens of today;
want to make the best out of their present
and pay no heed to their future
what life there is in such music that they dance to?
what life there is in such devices
what life is it having false friends around them?
when they will very soon regret in their dotage
why don't we embrace the old ways;
very utopian would this idea be?
'theif' would be a word which would not ring in one's mind
a place where everyone could stay peacefully
a life which they surrender to mother earth
and in return she nurtures them with her beauty
which people of today don't realise;
what is a life, when you build, party, when you don't take anything after life?
why has the world become like this;
where no one can dance to the music of the universe?
or sing the sweet song of the birds?
what is a life; where one lives in luxury
and maybe there are a handful which do keep this thought
and keep the old ways alive
All this because of a train incident?
you may think im mad
for this sounds more a speech,
but I would like to question you
why such a life does one seek?
This divine greenery
when gone,
I beseech; where would you be?
thy brothers, humanity will you scorn
