A Voice For The Voiceless Poem by Francis Duggan

A Voice For The Voiceless

Though you are a person I greatly admire
To your standard of greatness I do not aspire
For by my ability I'm limited or so it does seem
Though of renown in my younger days I used to dream.

From most other writers you do stand apart
And by your own words you are one kind of heart
For the have nots you are one who genuinely care
And of the flaws of Human Nature you seem quite aware.

In your writings you speak out for poor refugees
And for the millions who are dying of hunger and disease
In a World where compassion is losing it's place
The case for the downtrodden you do embrace.

The people who are homeless too poor to pay rent
The millions of people who live in a tent
The malnourished millions condemned to live rough
'Tis bravo to you for saying this not good enough.

You are a great writer and compassionate as well
You speak out for those who know of an Earthly Hell
A voice for the voiceless we honour your name
And so down to earth despite your growth in fame.
