A Walk In The Twilight Poem by Latha Krishnan

A Walk In The Twilight

Twilight seeping in from the setting sun in the ocean,
Lights coming on across the lagoon,
Amidst them the colour-lit heritage building
Glowing in splendour pulling all eyes to it

Walking along the lagoon enjoying the breeze
Musing that a fairy had sprayed a dazzle of lights
Around the shore and on the buildings in a half circle
Children playing amidst the trees along the beach
And mothers calling them to stop to go home

Walking towards the green, red, and white glowing building
Marvelling at its beauty and the calm twilight hour
Into my line of vision arising
A man and his camera equipment set up on the pavement
A little distance away from the building
Concentrating intensely with his camera on a tall tripod
His clicking finger on the ready!

Walking watching him, feeling his emotion as he clicked the picture
Freezing the beauty of that building
And the crescent moon hanging above it
As if someone purposely put it there for that perfect picture

He turning from the camera just as I
Level up with him on the lower pavement
Our eyes meeting and I commenting, "Beautiful isn't it? "
And he replying, "It is! "

Never stopping in my stride
Passing him, his camera, and that building
Feeling good! - A total stranger and I connecting for a moment
In the twilight -
In the presence of sublime beauty!
