A wish for good health for everyone
And a good night’s sleep when day is done
A wish for wisdom along each path
And lots of time to just have a laugh.

A wish for knowledge to fill your head
And how to use it once you’ve made your bed
A wish for luck to light up your life
And never to struggle with troubles and strife.

A wish that hope rises above despair
And when you need, friends are always there
A wish that life never passes you by
And you never have to sit and wonder why.

A wish for enough money to get along
And always in your heart a merry song
A wish to know the wrong from right
And beautiful things are always in sight.

A wish for good food to give you pleasure
And alongside hard work, plenty of leisure
A wish that dreams never cease to be
And that all your life you’ll always be free.

A wish that your head is always held high
And only from happiness the tears you cry
A wish for something no-one should miss
That love will touch you with a gentle kiss.
