A Woman's Case Poem by Annabel Cruz

A Woman's Case

Rating: 4.0

This tongue of mine
Will stand for me
Wrapping round my heart
Like a monkey on a tree
It speaks nothing of your logic
That cold and rigid place
Where hearts and minds
So polar
Can never embrace

This beating
Far below tranquility
Is where my client dwells
And so, my tongue unwittingly
Its lawyer must become
Defending what that lofty realm
Refuses to accept
That valid truth in feelings root
And logic
Overwhelms.
