A Young Friend... Poem by Rey Sanidad

A Young Friend...

The years are slowly creeping on
Beneath the summer sun
Yet, still in silent love and peace
Your life serenely run.
Beyond the mist that veils the coming years
I see no gathering clouds, nor falling tears.

Beside life's garden you stood and lingered
Where royal roses bloomed and blushed
And gleamed my lily's pride,
And happily there you plucked the sweet flowers
while heedless passed away the sunny hours.

My Friend, Your sunny face is lit
With all the hope of Youth
God grant your Heart may never know
Anything but the purest Truth.
Keep in your soul its faith and trusting Love
Until they even must bloom in heaven above.

Beside life's garden still you stay
And swiftly the hours fly by
While low upon the fragrant garden
The flowers silently lie.
Yet, far beyond the mist, your longing eyes
Still seek the gleaming walls of paradise.
