A Young Girl's Wish Poem by Lorraine Attard

A Young Girl's Wish

Rating: 2.5

When you're younger
You picture your wedding
You imagine the feeling when you walk down the aisle
How is it going to be like
You rehearse your wedding day with your friends
Then when you grow older
You decide how many kids you would love to have
The pregnancy
Your cravings
Your moods
Then you imagine that indescribable feeling when you hold your baby in your arms for the first time
Tracing their little fingers
Their little hands
Their little feet
That moment right there is so magical
You hold them like they're a beautiful porcelain doll
When you look into their beautiful eyes for the 1st time
You fall in love
But this love is the purest of all loves
You say to yourself oh my god
There is a part of me
My existence has a purpose
But sometimes things don't go according to plan
How can you take away a mothers love? ! ? !
How can you tell someone that was made to be a mother that she can't be? ! ? !
That you can't have your existence justified
That you can't here the little pitta patta on her kitchen floor
That she can't hear her baby say mummy for the 1st time
To see their 1st steps
To hear their 1st words
You'll kill her
She will be alive
But when you look into her eyes
You'll see an empty soul
You'll take the only thing that she truly ever wanted
She'll never be the same again
She'll still yearn
She'll still fight for her right
But she'll never accept the fact
That she'll never be a mother
Accepting it will break her heart
She'll only hope
That's all she has
***Hope***
