Absence Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Absence

Rating: 3.5

Absence

Absence lingers in my mind;
Absence of something,
And absence of somebody,
Turning life into insanity,
Somebody, a piece of my life,
Somebody, a piece of my tapestry,
Something, a piece of my heart,
Something, a magical spell of my breath,
Seem in a day thousand years have passed,
Since the time you departed my dear,
I have composed many poems for you,
But my lines and words failed to find you,
And as I am on my way to collect stars with you,
You go somewhere that I could not reach you,
Though my hands capable of reaching to the sky,
Stars soaring high and going out of my reach,
Going higher and higher still,
As absence lingers in my mind,
Beauty of morning and warmness of noon,
And coolness of evening and sweetness of night,
All seem alike, look alike and feel alike,
No discrimination, no taste and no sight,
Everything looks forlorn and dejected,
No dreams and no hopes,
Can fill tumbling days of mine,
Yet I whisper words of love,
And scatter flowers, gems, stars……..for you,
As absence lingers in my mind……
