Addict Poem by Nick Downer

Addict

you pushed me away
after begging me closer
and the taste on your lips
it tasted like denial
as you stood there with
that smirk of a smile
i never asked for love
just a fair shot
well you led me through a maze
groping in the dark
and Hitler's in the bedroom
screaming at me again
your presense turned to poison
now its seeping through my veins
i think my scream
got lost in my pillow
these tears weren't meant
to be seen
so i keep my eyes closed
you couldn't let me down easy
im a hopeless romantic
and when it came to you
i was a bit of an addict
yea i never asked for love
just a fair shot
but you never game me anything
and im returning what i got
