Advice To Thy Nursling. Poem by Hannah York

Advice To Thy Nursling.

When I am gone I hope there's someone there for you,
O fall in love swiftly child,
Someone to protect you from this madness,
I do not wish for you to feel helpless,
I wish for you the duckling to flourish into the swan.

O cherish childhood and happiness,
Do not rush into adulthood frail child,
The terror and anger in this world is no good for such a tender mind.

Take the leap,
Yet never fail to grasp a cautious peek,
And even if impending doom looms ahead,
Advance with strength and bravery.

Never give up,
Look to the sun if your struggle becomes too much,
And I, O child will guide and guard you,
Ask and I will stand beside you.

Then when your journey is complete,
And your steed is worn out,
We shall meet once again,
And the sun shall go out.
