peaceful fits to my surrounding
melodic hum of air conditioning
birds call escape into my ears
chick fearing absence of mom
tiptoeing on grass pretending
to know her way; stuck on rocks
they're like us clingy sometimes
i remember when i look up...it's
all teeth i can see, feel pinch
pain that i shrug it off, i'm use
now i'm deaf to anything but
angry roars of nascar race
