Afganistan Poem by Ashley burnam

Afganistan

The branches of the trees curl in
the waters dries up
The earth splits open
the star's cry out.

I see the dieing
I see th dead
I fold up inside myself
for my missing friends

Will someone not save us
for what have we done
But lived as people
having done nothing wrong

I wrote this for the people in In Afganistan that have suffered through out the years. In 1996 the Taliban, under the leadership of Mullah Muhammad Omar, seize control of Kabul and implement a strict interpretation of Islamic Law. The laws they infocts cause many deaths and injuried along with a great act of Woman's oppression. It got to the point they couldn't even leave they're houses without a male member of the family and they had to wear a Burqa (a long veil that covered them from head to toe. Pray for these lost people. I know i will.
