After A Funeral Poem by Shalom Freedman

After A Funeral

AFTER A FUNERAL

The sadness and horror of death
Is that hole in the ground
And the shovels of dirt
That cover what was once a person-
No one lives forever
I too will have that dirt thrown upon my body
When it no longer breathes
And I am not.
