After All These Years I Today Do Not Know What To Do With Myself Poem by Shalom Freedman

After All These Years I Today Do Not Know What To Do With Myself

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I TODAY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WIITH MYSELF

After all these years
I today do not know what to do with myself-

I have worked for such a long time
And now it feels as if I have no work-

I am a writer and I am writing now
So there is at least that -

But what must it be for so many retired people
Who after so many years
Find themselves with nothing to do?

How lost one is when one has so much time
And nothing to do with oneself
Except feel one's own uselessness
And inability to really do anything.

When we tune ourselves that we work for ourselves, at any stage of our life, we may not be confused that we have nothing to do.1. We have to brush our own teeth, floss, gargle and disinfect these teeth to serve us for many decades. It takes less than a minute or more, depend upon how busy we are and how much importance we give to this task.2. We have to bathe...3. We have to pray..4. Prepare and have our breakfast or eat the prepared breakfast without much fuss..There are many numbers of work that we do for ourselves without realizing the importance of it What is the relevance of assuming working for others for money is the real work? Go and sing. Go and jog. Go and meet friends. Talk to the members of family, whom you did not call for years, still there are a lot of works to do. Sir!
