# Afternoon Shadows Poem by Sonya Florentino

# Afternoon Shadows

Rating: 5.0

The late sun turned two birds into four

In the glare they all seem like shadows

But the sun will never foretell tomorrow

It is the night that will teach us about sorrow

The night can be so cruel when thoughts beset the mind as the shadows appear

The title is delicious and the few lines even more so. I love the deep thought in here; it almost seems camouflaged at first but then hits you with a left and right punch. (smile)

Hi Sonya, I really enjoyed reading this one, the ending kinda caught me by surprise. It shouldn't have, but it did and it made me like the verse even more. Frank

an exquisite little poem, not a word too many nor too few. This is a jewel, Sonya!

The night does seem that way as it has a slower pace and gives us more time to reflect. Thank you for sharing Sonya, this short, sweet and touching. :)
