Again Once Again Poem by Timmy Tubbs

Again Once Again

I had lines that turned those eyes to glance
To everything I held dear
To everything I had
I had plans for us even after the pain
I would lay low, push you away, and tell lies
Then cannonball back into your life
With these new eyes
But I failed again like I failed then
And my deep apologies don’t reach your roots
They trip to you barely escaping mine
All this backing away we thought could be cured
We thought all we needed was time

All of this is just a finger trap
The more you push the more you get stuck
There is no backing out
We just need to relax and turn us back to
White from blue
And our faces don’t glimmer like they used to
Our smiles are gray
Old, broken, and a little frayed

With no idea of your latest attraction to me, I slipped
I fell past my knees
So this ends it I suppose
I’ll turn memories of us into mine
And get stuck to every little mole
My long lost, I love every ounce of your soul
