Ah! Niger delta
Ah! Niger delta, I heard your cry
Your tears of centripetal ardor
Flooding, your exploited linage
Nevertheless, falling to soak the rock’s heart
Ah! Niger delta, I heard your cry
Several dirge bear out,
The injustice meted on the creek
And the age long cruelty of the Rock
Ah! Niger delta, I heard your cry
How you’ve been broken, and left on the mud to wry
I can see your worries over flooding the banks your mind
Like the Basambre river, when waylay by the northern wind
Ah! Niger delta, I heard your cry
How like a sculptor’s handiwork you gawk
Your virgins no longer strive to veil their v front
As khaki skins now, roam your waterfronts
Ah! Niger delta, I heard your cry
How fish miners dread the mere,
Even the heart of your misery was pry
However, I heard all these injustice from afar,
However, I hear your cry from a distant land,
I was not far from home
I myself was a victim of the resource agitation.
