Ain'T It Funny How... Poem by Rikki Giovani

Ain'T It Funny How...

Rating: 5.0

This poem was written in 2008 in remembrance of my unborn son that would have been born in 1998. I love you Joshua

...A baby's first laugh can make you cry
...A Baby's first step can make you fall
...A baby's first word can make your heart jump
...When their first tooth falls out you race to put money under their pillow when they fall asleep
...On their first day of school you are so afraid to let them go that you follow the bus to school
...You can blow up about the small things which makes the lessons learned more forgettable
...You grill their first partner on their first date because you feel like no once is good enough for them
...You spoil them while they are a child but can't seem to find the time to spend with them later
...You cry on prom night because you can't believe they have grown up so fast
...You are afraid to let them go to college on their own because you won't be able to protect them as much
...You do your best not to cry when you walk them down the aisle because you have come to terms that you aren't the only one in their lives anymore
...You cry like a baby when they have your first grandchild

Just remember to live each moment as it was your last. Don't worry about the small things. No matter what they do, just remember that material things can be replaced, but your child can't. Make sure to take time out to spend with them to show them that you care and will always be there for them. Your child should be your number ONE priority no matter who may come into your life.
