All About Me – A Poem Poem by David Byer

All About Me – A Poem

When asked to write this poem of “Me”
I first had to look at myself and see
what made me who I am and then
decide how best to use my pen.

I wanted to reveal what made me “Me”
but found that it was too hard to agree
what traits of mine were worthy to share
and of those the reader must beware.

There are so many different parts to “Me”
that to just choose one or two that are key
has taken much longer than I had thought
and it seems I am more of a tangled knot.

My goal was to help you get to know “Me”
but they say if you do you’ll learn to love me
and while it might be a nice cliche
I’d be forever crushed if you went away

When tasked with writing this poem of “Me”
I’m finding it so hard that I must plea
for time to wrangle and tangle the words about
before can I know myself, who I am about.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The kids in class had to write an 'all about me' poem, so I did it in my own way as well.
