All Around Me Poem by Gauri Gupta

All Around Me

Rating: 5.0

Innocence in his eyes
A prayer at his lips
With so many questions unanswered
With so many things unknown

A chest swollen with pride
And arrogance in his style
With determination and ferocity
Of one that knows it all

A nervous little laughter
A quick glance there
A million thoughts running through her mind
As she fades into oblivion

Engrossed in thought
With a scowl on his face
Angry at the world
For the fate he's been dealt

Intelligent and sexy
With a light shining in her eyes
All eyes follow her
She's the lady on the floor

Lost and wandering
He once was a vibrant soul
Who got his heart torn and broken
Is now all muscle and bone

As I look around me
I behold a sea of faces
Living a life so ordinary
Without a hint of excitement
Happy to be alive
Yet with no purpose to life

Living with remorse and guilt
And wishful thinking
Building castles in the air
Desperate for love and care

And so life goes on
As father becomes the son
And son becomes the father
He carries on his legacy
Of dreams unfulfilled
And lives not lived
Of stories untold
And the hopes we hold
