All In All Poem by Tim Casswell

All In All

Rating: 5.0

all is fair in love and war
and you get more than you bargain for
you can never be too sure
-of what you realised

are you inside or outside the wall?
did you jump or did you fall?
just when you think you've seen it all
-you're gonna be surprised'

one day at a time and don't look back
when we get defensive - we attack
one day we'll have to take the flak
-we will be penalised

always leap before you look
judge the cover by the book
it takes a fish to catch a hook
-however you're disguised

beware when you feel secure
beware when you feel sure
when feel no fear no more
-your freedom is the price

beware when you are feeling warm
when you have shelter from the storm
when you cannot come to harm
-you lose the fire and ice

it's all in how you make your name
take your aim, stake your claim
to change the picture change the frame
-you will be recognised

give as good as you can get
give your all without regret
you may feel like all is lost and yet
-you'll be revitalised

too many get lost and hesitate
too many just await their fate
too many find out far too late
-they were mesmerised

don't get schooled, don't get fooled
overwhelmed or overruled
don't let your passionate heart get cooled
-don't get compromised
