All Individuals Poem by Francis Duggan

All Individuals

Some say we are all individuals though with that others would not agree
For many do follow the leader though hard for them life well may be
They go to war and do his bidding and for him they even do die
And to say we are all individuals would be stating the obvious lie,
Some say we are all individuals though that's not the reality
Of our gregarious co-existence though we look at some things differently
We do have rank and class distinction and many to their monarch bow
Though some worship the Goddess of Nature and some do have their Sacred Cow,
It would be nice if we were all individuals but society does not work that way
We all cannot be chauffeur driven and have others do as we say
So few of us can do our own thing and live the way we wish to choose
For us to become good team players the individual in us has to lose
No we are not all individuals for individuals have always been rare
And billlions do follow the leader in the bigger World out there.
