All Is Not Lost!

Good dreams are bad friends
Rendering reality more painful than ever
Stung by them
I suffer from my split being
The rebel self;
When words deceive
The silence offers shield to me;
I wonder why
Whenever
To sow the seeds of love
I put the dibble into the soil
The land hits me back by its hardness
It gets dried up-
My hand stops impulsively
But eyes never stop dreaming
What if
The efforts to grow love stay unresponded
Perhaps
The need to soften the soil has grown to double;
How a wish for a gentle rainfall
Makes a mockery of my desires
As the water rushes inside and floods away
The dear belongings of my heart-
The blows of despair
Try in vain
To drive away the clouds of joys
From my hope-skies,
But all is not lost
Since my eyes never stop dreaming!

    All is not lost, because the answer is hidden in your lines itself.....
    Try in vain
    To drive away the clouds of joys ... never drive it out. So long that will remain nothing will be lost.
    very nice, keep well Shazia. (Report) Reply

    This one is among those beautiful poems that have touched my heart.The poet talks of the difference of dreams from that of the hard facts of life, of hopes crushed...dreams get dashed against the rocky wall of life..yet dreams continue because the heart, the soul, stay indomitable, always hopeful.This is not the poet speaking just about her, she is speaking for us all who dare to dream.............I love you Shahzia. 'My eyes never stop dreaming.'.. this line being used like a refrain, adds a lot of brightness to the otherwise grey mindscape and gives the poem a pleasant twist towards the end and thoroughly justifies the title! The opening two lines unfold a deep philosophical thought! ! Enjoyed! ! (Report) Reply

    Love grows best in the soil of a heart
    One does not need a dibble to plant it's seeds
    The heart just opens up and accepts the the seed
    But once planted much care must be maintained
    or the seed of love withers and dies.
    Dreams are seeds too and like love are planted; in our mind,
    and need care and attention for them to come true.
    There are other seeds one can plant also. (Report) Reply

    'All is not lost'
    Rain cannot stop soaking the soil
    And the sun rays will clear the frost

    Heaven will send it's pearly rewards
    A seedling will grow out of stones
    Love's labor, sweet dreams will never lost! (Report) Reply

    Poor soul must have some dreams to compensate for the harsh realities. Everybody needs that kind of split nature to overcome hard times. Beautiful poem describes the state with clarity and purpose. Thank you. (Report) Reply

    Shahzia Ma'am, this is a wonderful write. The difference between what we dream and what we see is what we believe and what we dont. When the dream itself sustains, and floats in skies, it is difficult to believe and we circle down to what we see. It is not the wuality of the seed that matters, where you saw it does. I hope your seed of expectation grows into a plant of belief, despite whether it'll give you fruit! .

No breath of being lingered there.
Three times I drove the demon out,
