All the Birthdays in a Row

All the birthdays in a row

Every day of the year, a person's birthday
Like a thousand birthday candles
stretching out to the horizon,
marking down the days of the calendar

So blow out the candles,
forget the past,
and watch the black smoke slowly rise
up to the crystal chandelier

Every day of the year is a person's birthday...nothing to rejoice as it reduces a life by a single day.... lovely concept, , , ,10 (Report) Reply

poet Ambrose Bierce

Weather
by Ambrose Bierce

Once I dipt into the future far as human eye could see,
And I saw the Chief Forecaster, dead as any one can be--
Dead and damned and shut in Hades as a liar from his birth,
