Some Girl

(May 05)

Almost Empty

i am drowning
the tears are half empty
and the glass is half full
what is meant to be?

i look ahead
to a better day
but they all feel empty
come what may?

tomorrow sounds good
but the outcome is bleak
i wait nonetheless
am i too weak?

i force my smiles
but my mouth is mean
no matter what i write
its not in my heart it seems?

i am tired of being tired
no matter how alive i am
the emptiness is full
there is no calm.

The person in this poem sounds like a very old soul that has been around for many lifetimes and is just completely tired of being here. But something inside keeps her pushing on when she really has no more will to push on. Maybe she is waiting to see what will happen and hope that things might change. Maybe that is what keeps her here. Good stuff. (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Christina Georgina Rossetti

Where sunless rivers weep
Their waves into the deep,
She sleeps a charmed sleep:
Awake her not.
Led by a single star,
She came from very far
