Alone I wait searching for your voice
to hear you utter a word of encouragement
but all I can hear around me is silence
this awful feeling of abandonment

This lonliness saps my energy
glistening darkness marks my skin
penetrating through my very pores
the flaming fire doused damp from within

Like an open wound that waits to heal
but the pain will never evaporate
cold as stone, grey as granite
distant memories fail to penetrate
