Always Choose Love Poem by Louise Tredoux

Bought the Zeffirelli DVD of La Traviata
with Teresa Stratas as Violetta, Italian with
English subtitles for my beloved, as soon as
he gets back from his trip on a marine research
ship, I want to give it to him, I know he likes
the opera, I cried while watching this version

Violetta was wrong in giving up Alfredo on
the flimsy evidence of the father’s description
of the probable future decline of their relationship,
she was a fool not to believe in the goodness of the
universe, I would never give up my loved one, I
believe in the strength of love

To overcome all obstacles, I would create my
own life, not follow the prescriptions of the self-
righteous who force rules on others while they
know they can’t find happiness following the
rules themselves; I shall always choose love –
and never give up!
