Always My Kryptonite Poem by Robin Bennett

Always My Kryptonite

I fading fast on hope these days-
but I still recall our glory days
Hopping in the backseat for
some high school lovin'

Amazing that after all
these years-
you are my one
and only kryptonite-
Defenseless against
those envy glowing
eyes, that took
me
to my knees.

Since that night I refused
to wait for you, I hear still the
hollow silence of you
not begging me to
wait just a while longer.

I've learned my lesson
time is not
something you can
trust. It's unpredictable and
oh so fickle. She changes
her mind on a aged dime.

I see you ever once and
again
I will always wonder if
I took the wrong way out
Expecting you to
chase me. My pride
stopped me from
turning back to you

A question never to be answered,
never in this time
When I think of you, I remember
how great were those years
of my life.
