Always One Greater Poem by Francis Duggan

Always One Greater

You may be a strong man quite as strong as two
But remember there is always one stronger than you
You may be the biggest and strongest in your side of the town
And this seems a justifiable claim to renown
And though your praises many may sing
To realize there are bigger and stronger than you can be a humbling thing
There is always one better though great you may be
I recall what a wise old bloke once said to me
That the strongest man on his side of the town one day
May meet one stronger who lives from him not that far away
Yes though big, strong and fast and great as you are
To find one greater you may not have to travel far
That there is always one greater seems only true to say
This is how it is and will always be this way.
