American Bureaucracy Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

American Bureaucracy

Rating: 3.0

In this rough economy
Private enterprise is downsizing

Companies and businesses
Are doing more with less

Like musical chairs, take away a chair
Someone has to leave

However, with the government
Local, State, and Federal

Instead of taking away a chair
They add a chair

Enough is never enough

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Observations made after forty one years of Federal Service. I dedicate this poem to my fellow citizens of Kaysville, Utah. We are part of the nation wide phenomena of citizens being bleed to death by increases of taxation at every government level.

The strength here is that you know from experience what you are writing about. 'Enough is never enough'.

Great poem of what's been happening all over the country. I also have been a victim of downsizing and being told after 15 years that my job was adsorbed to save the company money. Not a fun time for anyone. Someone had to take on my responsibilities and duties. Overworked and underpaid.

A cutting, satirical poem about bureaucracy. I am interested to know that you worked forty-one years in federal service. A very long time.
