Among The Woods Poem by Yvonne Livingstone Kania

Among The Woods

Among the woods full of wood ivy hung
The old fox dances around for her young
She sniffs and barks at any passer by
Swinging her tail and prepares to fly
As the horseman hurries by: she bolts to see
Turning around again, from danger not to be set free
Hiding among the poles
She barks and snaps and drives them down holes
The shepherd sees them as he goes by
And gets a stick and pokes down the hole to try:
They all lay still for safety that's for sure
And come out again when its more secure
And snap at the birds flying by
Trying to catch a white butterfly.
