An Answer To Despair Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

An Answer To Despair

Rating: 5.0

It's loneliness and wretched solitude
That tortures me so I reach out for friends,
I'm just an ordinary man and need
Some comfort in my life. I sit and brood
And wonder if the darkness never ends
For some of us, and yet there is no doubt
The flame you lit in me will not go out out,
You are the one I really care about!
But solitude can be an awful thing
And if somebody else will gladly bring
Real succour to this gloomy heart of mine
I won't say no, I'll let the the sunlight shine
Into my darkened room, I will say 'Yes!
Come in and drive away this loneliness,
I cannot weep forever, hold my hand,
If you are lonely too, I'll understand,
We'll gather round the hearth and feel the fire
That love will bring us and its sweet desire! ! '
