An Army Nurse Poem by norman hale

An Army Nurse

Rating: 5.0

She writes here letter back home
From a land far far away
Writing to her lover
She hopes to reunite with someday

She's in the land of many sands
And, oh so many dunes
As she goes to sleep each night
She hums their wedding tunes

She's a nurse in the army
Sometimes laying dead ones to rest
But, each night as she prays
She holds his picture to her chest

She's doing all she can
To keep her homeland free
They need all of our support
From the likes of you and me

She hopes to be home by Christmas
That's her same wish each year
But, the war lingers right on
And each Christmas she sheads her tears

She deserves all of our respect
For all that she has done
She's patched up a many of soldiers up
To come home and see their sons

This my hats off salute
To those behind the lines
And they all deserve our respect
Both yours as well as mine
