An Epitaph Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

An Epitaph

That day I was walking beside a tomb,
suddenly I noticed the words inscribed on its tombstone,
'John is lying in peace,
Stop here or gently pass.'
I stood there for a while and thought
John was truly relishing the eternal peace.
Then I began to walk towards my destination,
I asked myself, 'Why can't I enjoy such peace in this world? '
Immediately someone whispered in my ears,
'Forget it and accept the truth of life.'
