An Epitome Of Friendship - Jo Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

An Epitome Of Friendship - Jo

Rating: 5.0

In this harsh nurturing place of discipline
where God in His wisdom has put me,
He has brought you, in his divine providence,
in that place where I must be.
So you can encourage my effort,
build my self-esteem, and strengthen my spirit.
To continue on this path,
He sent you to me,
to help ease the feeling of distress
and desperation bound to come my way.

That, and more you are;
You seem to know my very soul,
You understand my spiritual reference.
You would let no one disparage me
or disturb my serenity.
You bear in you, the burdens of my
daily drudgery and sorrow,
and the joy of my every blessing.
You are sad when I am sad,
You are happy when fortunes dare my way.

You present me with air
of elegance that is bestowed on no one.
In my aridity, you’ve tended
my heartaches, as if it were a loom.
You knitted my shattered confidence
to nourishment.

You are all that a friend
could wish to have.
You filled the void in this place.
A comfort to me you are.
The malevolent spirit is overcome
by your very presence.

The curse is broken!
An anathema, SKYLIGHT, is no more.
You’ve ascended where few would dream.
And that, I say,
You are an epitome of friendship.
