An Ever Gnawing Hunger Poem by bob eichen

An Ever Gnawing Hunger

Rating: 5.0

I HUNGER
At breakfast
For rib eye steak, four eggs over easy, hash browns, biscuits and gravy and a bloody Mary.
BUT I HUNGER FOR YOU MORE

I HUNGER
At midmorning
For three toasted coconut vanila cake doughnuts washed down with Irish coffee.
BUT I HUNGER FOR YOU MORE

I HUNGER
At lunchtime
For a ham sandwich, with American cheese, a slice of tomato, with mayo, on whole wheat bread, cole slaw, curly fries. and a frosty mug of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer or three.
BUT I HUNGER FOR YOU MORE

I HUNGER
After work, at Happy Hour
For hot wings and high balls, nachos and minitacos.
BUT I HUNGER MORE FOR YOU

I HUNGER
At dinner
For linguine with white clam sauce, garden salad, crescent rolls and a martini.
BUT I HUNGER FOR YOU MORE

Without YOU,
I can never be sated.
Come now,
My darling WIFE,
To bed,
Your loving
Husband's
STILL
HUNGRY!
