An Observation Poem by Leaking Pen

An Observation

Queuing in line
To purchase a ticket for a sci fi movie…. out of boredom
And having nothing else to do
On a Friday afternoon,
I was drawn to a young crowd queuing in line, half my age for an early matinee
I wanted to be part of the buzz
And to shake up my comatose life
A teen couple stood in front me in line
A cocky young man in his twenties
And his new acquired conquest
A timid long hair, fair skinned lass
He was prowling around her like a peacock
Self assured of his manhood, his youth and his know how
He had an intense look about him, a young man of intellect perhaps
And a magic smile that made Venus take notice.
And he possessed a silky voice like Frank Sinatra
And same blue eyes that cut through glass.
He was quizzing her…to score a point or two
She pretended to be dump…but she is definitely beautiful
A role played by women on men so convincingly
As far back as human life on earth appeared.
Pity us self-absorbed men, for being clueless!
About woman being the smarter species.
He asked her one more time, as I listed intensely,
"What scares people the most? "
Or especially what scares you the most? My love?
She tilted her head to the right then to the left,
And posted her index finger on her right cheek,
Pretending to go on a thinking expedition...
Trying to find a way to impress:
Without bursting his fragile bubble with her kept knowledge.
She tied up her tongue on purpose
And pretended could not think of an answer.
She charmingly said: "Attacked by a zombie! "
He said? hhhhmmmm hmmmm shocked by her reply!
But his ears so content with her made up answer.
Then he repeated the question even louder second time around
To make sure I heard his intelligent question.
'What scares people more than death itself? '
By now we were at the ticket booth,
And he had to act fast and plug an answer out of her
She just giggled, …hehehehe…
He said: 'Public speaking most people fear it more than death itself! '
I turned around and said:
' Spot on mate! '
