An Ode To Eternity Poem by Shiraz Ray

An Ode To Eternity

We were separated the moment we were born –
You astride your polar bear
I riding my snow leopard
We watch each other everyday and
So will we till the sun refuses to come up
And twilight shakes its long awaiting hands with dawn.

Just like the two banks of a river and
Just like two lampposts standing side by side
We feed on each other’s might but don’t touch each other.

We wake up together when the captain
Signals its time to set sail, knowing fully
That we will meet Davy Jones together.

We carry the weight of millions on our shoulders
Still the only time we get close enough
Is when someone decides to meet his peace
And offers us his holy wine at the dinner table.

A good imagination of the poet on the eternity that slips away every moment.
