An Ode To My Friends Poem by Sumali Nagarajan

An Ode To My Friends

Rating: 4.0

I have had many friends
In my long and interesting life
Being my companion, confidante, adviser
Providing me solace in times of strife.

Some I have lost touch with
And I miss them to this day
If only there was Whatsapp then
Staying in touch would have been child's play.

Those that I have now, I cherish
I pray, let not these friendships ever perish
Since I like having just a handful, not many
I am not a person who plays to the gallery.

A special friend, I am blessed, lives around the corner
We often like to hang out together
She makes me laugh with her frank style of humor
Even in her absence I can recall her remarks and chuckle.

She has gone through tough times
Hence likes to live life to the fullest
Regularly attends parties and visits pubs
With a tattoo on her cleavage.

But this amazing friend is caring and comforting too
When I am distraught, she asks with concern,
'Beta! What do you want to do? '

I know I am blessed with so many friends
Sometimes I wonder what do they get from me
May life augment their blisses
With them always, are my sincerest wishes.
