An Old Man By The Beach Poem by Helen Garan

An Old Man By The Beach

An old man is sitting in an divan
singing old songs like an avian
with his voice trembling oh what a life
his wife is dead and cancer is rife

but the nurse is cool don't worry
soul deep inside don't be sorry
cocoon closes his desires
he is still alive

imagine him like a boy
at a rock live
the sea is so calm
the summer is glitter
no matter that after
is nothing but litter

life is nothing but a twitter
said the old man
as he was raising up his odd body
from the divan.
